Z-TRAK™ is secured directly to your truck bed using multiple mounting points along the rail for maximum strength and stability.
Depending on the truck model, each rail includes approximately 14–20 mounting holes to spread the load evenly across the bed.
Every Z-TRAK system includes our specialty #12 black oxide self-tapping screws for installation.
For steel beds:
The included self-tapping hardware works great for most applications and provides a fast, secure install. Upgrade to the Plus Nut (nutsert) Kit if you want the strongest OEM level install or if you intend to do any winching or particularly heavy loads.
For aluminum beds:
Many customers successfully use the included self-tapping hardware, but we strongly recommend upgrading to our Plus Nut (nutsert) Kit for the best strength and long-term durability.
For composite beds:
We do not recommend self-tapping screws.
A Plus Nut Kit is strongly recommended for proper strength and security.
Why use plus nuts?
Our Plus Nut Kit creates a more OEM-style installation with significantly greater holding strength—especially important if you:
- Haul heavier loads
- Transport motorcycles or e-bikes frequently
- Use ramps or do any winching/loading under force
- Want the strongest possible installation
Bottom line:
Z-TRAK is designed to be a permanent, rock-solid mounting system—not a temporary clamp-on accessory.
More mounting points. More strength. More confidence.
