Short answer: Yes for spray-in liners. Maybe for drop-in liners.
Z-TRAK works great with spray-in bed liners and installs without any issues in almost all cases.
For plastic drop-in bed liners, it depends on how the liner fits your truck bed. Z-TRAK can install over a drop-in liner if the liner follows the same contour as the front wall of the bed.
For a proper install, the Z-TRAK rails need to sit flush so the screws can go directly through the liner and into the metal bed. If there’s any gap between the liner and the metal, the system won’t mount securely.
How to tell if your drop-in liner will work: (Reference picture at the bottom)
- ✅ If your liner is molded and hugs the shape of the front bed wall → You’re likely good to go
- ❌ If your liner is flat/vertical across the front → it usually does not match the bed contours, which creates a gap behind it
Important note on sizing (for drop-in liners):
Our standard Z-TRAK rail is typically around 56" wide (this can vary slightly by truck make and model).
Some drop-in liners, even when they follow the bed contour, taper inward near the edges. For example, a truck bed that measures 60" wide might only have 54" of usable flat/contoured space once the liner is installed.
If you have a drop-in liner:
- Please note it in the order comments along with your truck info
- If possible, measure the actual flat/contoured width where Z-TRAK will mount (the area that sits flush against the bed)
We can absolutely supply a rail to fit—but we need that measurement to make sure it installs correctly.
If your liner doesn’t fit the contour, you still have options:
- Remove the liner for a direct-to-metal install (best option)
- Or, some customers choose to cut out a small section of the liner so the lower (offset) Z-TRAK rail can mount directly to the metal
- The top rail can often still mount over the liner, since it typically sits flush against the bed
